How to tie a tie

Four-in-Hand works for most occasions: it is simple, slightly asymmetric, and easy to remember.

Four-in-Hand knot

  1. Place the wide end lower than the narrow end.
  2. Cross the wide end over the narrow end.
  3. Wrap it behind the narrow end.
  4. Bring it across the front again.
  5. Pull it up through the neck loop.
  6. Pass it down through the front knot and tighten gently.

The knot should be snug but comfortable. Straighten the collar and adjust the length.
